We are delighted to announce that Tomás A. Gaudio, of member firm Barreiro Abogados (Argentina), has won the V LFN Young Lawyers Award for his paper, “Between Finality and Coherence: Designing Appellate Review in a Consent-Based ISDS System.”

This year’s Jury, comprising Dr. Roland Kläger of Haver & Mailänder (Germany), Alicia Hill of Sladen Legal (Australia), Laila Elibrachy of Ibrachy & Dermarkar (Egypt), and Niko Liu of MHP Law Firm (China), highlighted the consistently high standard of submissions and the depth of analysis across the competition.

Following a unanimous decision, Tomás’ paper was selected as the winning submission.

The Jury’s feedback highlighted the paper’s exceptional analytical depth and its critical engagement with ongoing reforms in international investment law. It was further recognised for its clear structure, strong research, and its ability to combine theoretical insight with a practical and feasible institutional proposal.

Additional feedback emphasised the paper’s comprehensive treatment of an issue of international significance, including a well-developed analysis of stakeholder positions and a coherent, solution-oriented approach to the challenges identified.

Tomás will travel to Hangzhou, China, this May to attend the LFN Annual Conference 2026, where he will present his work to an international audience of delegates, receive the award and be formally recognised as this year’s winner.
