La Romana, Dominican Republic – May 2025 – Fundación Tropicalia, a non-profit organization dedicated to the socioeconomic and environmental development of Miches, Dominican Republic, has been named the recipient of The Law Firm Network’s 2025 Community Impact Award. The award will be presented during the Gala Dinner of The Law Firm Network’s Annual Conference, taking place on May 24, 2025 at Casa de Campo, La Romana.
Founded in 2008 by Tropicalia, a sustainable tourism and real estate development of Cisneros Real Estate, Fundación Tropicalia promotes inclusive, long-term development in the Miches region through initiatives in four key areas: environment, education, productivity, and sociocultural advocacy. The Foundation designs and implements high-impact programs that support sustainable agriculture, gender equality, entrepreneurship, microfinance, and access to education.
Over its more than a decade of operation, Fundación Tropicalia has received numerous accolades for its pioneering work, including:
Second Runner-Up in the United Nations World Tourism Organization Awards (2017), The Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Education at the XXIII International Education Congress Aprendo (2019), and in 2025, funding from the Airbnb Community Fund to establish a new community center for youth development.
This year’s Community Impact Award specifically supports Fundación Tropicalia’s signature initiative, “Soy Niña, Soy Importante”, a summer camp that empowers young girls in the Miches community by fostering their personal growth, confidence, and educational aspirations.
Sofia Perazzo, President of Fundación Tropicalia and Vice President of Sustainability at Cisneros Real Estate, will accept the award on behalf of the organization. The award will be presented by Peter Krarup, Chairman of The Law Firm Network, and Rafael Truan Blanco, Executive Director.
The Law Firm Network’s Community Impact Award celebrates exceptional non-profit organizations operating in regions where the network’s events are held. The award highlights a shared commitment to corporate social
responsibility, sustainable development, and meaningful community engagement.
